ParticipantI’ve just been advised by one of my affiliates that one of her customers placed her recent order via her link. But no notification is showing on the affiliate’s account and no notification was sent to me in any way, shape or form. What is supposed to happen when a customer places an order via an affiliate link – and does anyone have any idea why this isn’t happening here? Any advice would be most welcome – thank you!

KeymasterHi, Do you have the debug option enabled in the affiliates manager settings? Which integration option are you using?

ParticipantHi there, yes I do. Should I reset this option (I see there is a button for that)? Sorry, I don’t understand what you mean by integration option – I am using this with a Woo Commerce shop – is that what you mean? Thanks!

ParticipantHello again, please can you let me know if I must reset this debug option? I have checked with the customer concerned and she definitely accessed my site via an affiliate link – so there is no reason that I can understand as to why this sale has not been credited to that affiliate. What normally happens when someone buys via an affiliate link? Am I sent a notification of that? I would have expected that to be the procedure. If you could please help me unravel this I would be most grateful – as at the moment I have an affiliate who is fast losing faith in my affiliate program – and obviously that is not what I want to happen. Please get back to me urgently. Thank you so much.

ParticipantHi there,
Please can you get back to me on this Shadow Labs? I’m none the wiser since I first wrote this post. I must assume this plugin works – otherwise no one would use it, but it certainly hasn’t worked for this affiliate. And I have no records of other affiliate sales yet either – so I’m not sure if they have also “slipped through the net”. Please help – because other than changing plugins I really don’t know what to do. Thank you.

KeymasterThanks. We have built-in integration with WooCommerce which seems to be working fine. So there must be something wrong with your setup. Can you please do a test affiliate purchase with the debug option enabled so we can check it afterward?

ParticipantHi there, so I did a test sale – and it reflected in the debug file (but I had no notification of it anywhere else, ie no email sent to me). So my question is – do I need to check this debug file for every sale that comes through to me? I would have expected a more formal notification – for example an email notifying me of this affiliate sale. Is that meant to happen? Or do I need to check the debug file every time? Please let me know. Thanks so much!

KeymasterThere is an option in the settings to notify the affiliate when a sale is referred. You can also find it in the “Commissions” menu.

ParticipantHi there,
Where exactly will I find this? The only tabs I have to choose from in the Commissions menu are “Overall commissions” (ie all commissions due/paid to date) and Manual Commissions (so that I can award a commission manually if I choose to). There is no option in either of those tabs that enable me to choose to have notifications of affiliate sales sent to me.
Please can you advise where I can choose this option? Thank you.

KeymasterHi, There is no option for the admin to receive notification of an affiliate sale. This is something the plugin only sends to the affiliate (if you have the option enabled in the settings).

ParticipantHi there, OK… but then I have 2 further questions:-
1) Where is the option that can be enabled in the settings? Because it isn’t in the Commissions as previously advised.
2) How am I, as the owner of the site, meant to know that any commission is due on a sale? Surely it would make sense to send notifications to both parties? Something to consider putting in place perhaps? Please advise. Thank you.

ParticipantHello again,
OK, have just updated my version of this plugin and see that in the “Settings” menu I can now check the box that means that my affiliate will get notified every time an affiliate sale is made. This is progress! However… I still cannot understand why I, as the admin of the site and the payer of commissions, aren’t also given this information? I don’t want to have my affiliates to have to inform me that a sale has come via one of their links – that’s really unprofessional. I want to look after my affiliates well – and this doesn’t enable me to do that. Please advise – or just add an option that enables me to get the same email when an affiliate sale is made. I can’t think that would be so difficult to implement?
Look forward to hearing back from you… thanks!

ParticipantWas this ever resolved?
August 9, 2018 at 11:42 am #3858julietterb
ParticipantNo, it wasn’t. Apparently, we have to track affiliates’ commissions manually on each order – either by checking the debug file straight away or by clicking on the “My Affiliates” tab of the plugin and checking the list of earnings and see if a new amount is showing for anyone. There is no automated message alerting the site owner as to when an order has come via an affiliate. Which seems to be rather an oversight in my opinion… but obviously not one that seems to bother most people or I would hope it would have been changed by now. Anyway, those appear to be our options if we wish to use this plugin!

ParticipantOh, wow. That sucks.
