Our site needs an “Affiliates Handbook” to describe how WPAM works from Affiliates’ perspective. Is there already such a professionally written document we can refer to?

I’ve managed to come up with the following but not happy with them. Could you please review and let me know if they are accurate, or not? I don’t want to do false advertisement to the affiliates.

    We’ve decided to:
    * set WPAM cookie to almost never expire say >80 years.
    * use the WPAM plugin on WooCommerce.

We’d like to say to the affiliates that “You get commission almost forever” but I feel there are some “small prints” needed to clarify on how things work under the hood.

    Normally:
    * A visitor John follows an affiliate link to our site, a cookie with your affiliate ID gets written to the prospect’s device. This is of course relying on the setting that cookies are permitted on the device. Normally users do allow cookies.
    * Before the expiration date of the cookie, John makes a purchase of a subscription. This purchase will be awarded to the affiliate. In the meantime, your affiliate ID is stamped on this order of the subscription. Future renewals will rely on this stamp to award you.
    * In addition, with or w/o the presence of the cookie, even after the cookie expires, future renewals of this subscription, upgraded/downgraded subscription renewals of this subscription will all award to you because the original order is stamped with your affiliates id, and they all tie to the original order in WooCommerce.
    * After the cookie expires, or say John makes a brand new purchase of a subscription on a different device w/o such a cookie, the purchase will NOT be awarded to you.
    * Say John’s computer is shared one, with the presence of the cookie as a result of John clicking the affiliate link, say Joe purchased another subscription on this computer from the site. This purchase is also awarded to you. Same with future renewals.
    *
What would prevent you from getting awarded?
    * John followed the link on the site on one device, but he eventually went straight to the site and made a purchase on a different device w/o following the affiliate link.
    * John had to switch device with the cookie on before making a purchase.
    * Say he lost his phone, or
    * had to upgrade his device, and as a result the cookie is lost.
    * In doing troubleshooting of an issue, John cleared all cookies on his device.
    * Any other situations?

Hi, unfortunately at present there is no such document as per your request. However you can find most of your questions answered in the following documentation.

The following documentation talks about how cookies work in WPAM.

Let me know if you need more information or help.

    Kind regards
