Affiliate ID tracking to a second page

My affiliate URL takes users to my homepage, which displays the affiliate ID in the URL. If the user then clicks the “REGISTER” button they navigate to the registration page but the affiliate ID is no longer displayed in the URL.
Question: Is the user still being tracked to the affiliate ID when they move to a 2nd page on the site, or can the ID only be tracked to the first referral page from the referral URL and not subsequent pages on the site?

Would appreciate any insight you can provide.
