ParticipantI have just added a new affiliate – she was sent an email by your plugin saying that her application had been approved. She was also sent login details in the same email – namely being her email address and a computer-generated password. And also a login link. But when she goes to this link and puts in the given details it gives an error saying:-
Authorization Required
This server could not verify that you are authorized to access the document requested. Either you supplied the wrong credentials (e.g., bad password), or your browser doesn’t understand how to supply the credentials required.
PLEASE ADVISE ASAP – THANK YOU!

KeymasterHi, The affiliate is getting this error on the affiliate login page? What happens if she logs in from the wp-admin or wp-login.php page?

ParticipantHi, thanks for getting back to me. But I’m not sure what you mean by this? My affiliate doesn’t have access to my wp-admin or wp-login.php page. She needs to be able to log in via the affiliate login page and when she tries to do that she gets this error message. It seems that the login details/password that were created for her by the plugin aren’t working/are not being recognised. Do you have any idea why not? I have followed everything re set-up to the letter but the plugin does not appear to be working correctly. If you have any suggestions as to why not I would be most grateful. Thank you.

KeymasterOur login functionality is fully controlled by WordPress. So when an affiliate logs in from the affiliate login page they actually login as a WordPress user (just like logging in from the wp-admin/wp-login.php page).
I did some research on this error. It may not be actually coming from core WordPress. So the possibilities are:
1) You have a plugin on your site (probably a security plugin) that is doing something in the backend when a user logs into WordPress. If there is no security plugin, you can deactivate one plugin at a time (except affiliates manager) to see which one is causing this conflict.
2) Your hosting provider has implemented an extra layer of security to avoid WordPress websites being hacked. So you may need to contact your host for more information.

ParticipantThanks again for your response.
I have checked under my “Users” tab on the backend of my site to see if I can log my affiliate in from there. I can’t – because there is no option for doing this.
I don’t know – I didn’t expect this process to be so complicated and I really am at the stage of deleting this plugin and using another instead.
Have hardly any plugins loaded on my site – mainly because they seem to cause so many issues – tried deactivating the only one that was security related (an anti-spam plugin) but that has made absolutely no difference. Also tried any of the others that aren’t crucial to my site (can’t deactivate woo-commerce or my payment gateway for instance) – but still no joy.
Please let me know if there is anything I should do or if I should rather just try a different plugin. Thank you.

ParticipantHello again,
I’ve eventually got back to trying to set this up again. I contacted my host – and for some reason (that they still haven’t explained to me) they do not allow what they call “membership” plugins on sites that they host. Doesn’t make any sense as they have an affiliate program running on their site and they teach affiliate marketing! But there we go. So other than changing my host (which I will do if necessary) I don’t know what else to do. My host did suggest logging in from the wp-admin page, as you also suggested, above. But I tried this and it then shows the logged-in affiliate a page that is largely irrelevant and completely useless to them – unless they want to change their password or edit their billing and shipping addresses (not relevant unless you are a customer of my site – they are not, they are affiliates). So that option doesn’t appear to work. I still don’t know how it looks when the correct login page for this plugin does work – but I would imagine it would take the affiliate to a “backend” area that would allow them to download creatives onto their site and also to check the status of their account. Stuff that they need to be able to do. But this doesn’t happen when they log in from the wp-admin page. Please can you help me here? The rest of the installation process has been so simple, but this part is driving me crazy. Nothing that anyone tells me to do has worked so far. Maybe the best thing is going to be for me to change my host – and then hopefully all features will work as they are meant to. Or is there another option to make this work? Please advise. Thank you.
