ParticipantTesting new affiliate signups and those using msn or hotmail are not receiving any emails and it’s not in the junk folder either. When using an email from a domain ([email protected]) it works just great. Any ideas?
Thank you

KeymasterHi, Do you have the “Automatically approve a new affiliate” option enabled in the Affiliates manager settings? If so, do you get a “success” message upon registration?

ParticipantHi Shadow Labs –
I did initially have that checked and after reading through the forum I unchecked it. Still no emails being sent to hotmail or msn.
Did get the registered page after signing up (when it was checked) but no email. Even after approving the affiliate no email went out. Again, this was when it was checked and to the hotmail or msn emails.
Using a regular domain email – things were fine. However, that is after I unchecked the box.March 2, 2015 at 11:53 pm #688admin
KeymasterIt is best to use a domain email as the “From Email” address value. Otherwise some email clients will reject the message when it comes from a domain but has a personal from email address value.

ParticipantMorning Admin and thank you for your response.
I am using a domain email in your plugin. The people trying to signup as an affiliate that have something other than a domain email are not receiving any emails from the plugin. However, if they use a domain email when signing up they do receive an email. Those not receiving emails have checked their junk and nothing there.
Thanks for your help!

KeymasterThe plugin send emails whether or not auto approve option is enabled/disabled. I believe your server is failing to deliver those emails. Have you tried a SMTP plugin to send emails?

ParticipantThank you Shadow Labs.
Have not tried an SMTP plugin.
Curious, is it common that a server would send emails to domain emails but not to gmail or hotmail accounts?
Thank you –

KeymasterIt’s possible. Some servers have various restrictions.
Affiliates manager calls the
wp_mailfunction of WordPress to send an email.http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/wp_mail
But it depends on the mail server whether or not the email will be sent. The server that’s receiving the email might also mark it as spam based on the content. For example: unrecognised/spammy from email address, subject, body.
