ParticipantHi All! Full blown newbie here!
It was recommended to me to have two sites. One for the marketing pages and the other for the membership site. The idea was that it would keep the websites cleaner and faster. Seems like more of a pain to me.
Here’s the path: Creatives are stored on Membership site where the affiliate plugin is. Affiliate picks up the banner and put’s it on the affiliates site. Lead clicks on affiliates banner which takes them to the marketing site where they can sign up for a freebie. After signing up for the freebie the lead is redirected to “Thank You” page on marketing site where there is an offer for a paid product. The lead clicks on the offer and is take to the membership site to make the purchase. The purchase is made.
Here are my questions.
Do the cookies stay with the lead from site to site?
Will this record as a sale or must everything be on one site?
Hope this was clear…
Thank you!

ParticipantHi mb! Thanks for you reply and nice article, but I still don’t understand.
If I have the affiliate plugin on one url ie:
www.membershipsite.combut the banner with the affiliate link goes to a landing page that is on another url iewww.marketingsite.comthat offers a freebie and an offer that refers back to membershipsite.com for a paid membership. Will the plugin still track the sale?Or
Does the plugin have to be on the same site that the products for sale are?

ModeratorHi, the plugin tracks the sales made in the site where the plugin is installed. If you want to track the sales on the other site, you need to install the plugin in that site as well. If this is what you are trying to achieve.
Let me know if you need more help.
Thank you

ParticipantI moved everything to the one site. I did a test product that was .10 The purchase was made but it was not recorded in the affiliate program. Was that because no money was made on the transaction? Paypal takes the entire .10 as a transaction fee.

Keymaster@vboy, The plugin can’t reward commisison if the sale amount is zero. You also need to click on an affiliate link and make the purchase in order for the commission to be tracked. Please make sure to keep the debug option enabled in the affiliates manager settings so you can the check the progress of an affiliate sale.

ParticipantHi Shadow Labs! Thanks for your reply!
In the test the affiliate was clicked and the click was reported in the plugin.
How can I test the plugin to make sure it’s working without having to pay for my product? Would a Paypal sandbox work?
Thank you!

KeymasterIf you can make a test affiliate transaction with the paid memberships pro plugin you should be able to check whether the plugin is functioning properly on your site.
