Hi, unfortunately that is how this plugin works. When a member registers under WP Affiliate it also creates the affiliate role under WP Users.

I just created another affiliate just to confirm that it does work with the latest version of WP Affiliate Manager plugin and WordPress 4.8.3. It did create the affiliate role for the new user. Do you have any other addons added to WP Affiliate Manage plugin?
If you don’t, can you disable and delete the plugin, then install a fresh copy. Then carry out another test.
Let me know what happens.

Hi, as far as I know there is no option in the plugin to award different commission in the way you mentioned above. You can edit the commission rate once the affiliate has registered.
